Bilawal Urges Immediate Collective Action to Protect Water Resources

Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari called for urgent collective action to safeguard water resources on World Water Day. He described water as the “lifeblood of the planet,” essential for ecosystems and human civilization. Bilawal emphasized that protecting this critical resource is both an environmental necessity and a moral responsibility for future generations.

He urged all segments of society to adopt sustainable practices and ensure fair access to clean water for every citizen. Bilawal highlighted the importance of cooperation among communities, governments, and organizations to prevent misuse and depletion of water resources. He warned that inaction today could jeopardize the availability of water for millions in the years to come.

Addressing regional issues, Bilawal criticized India’s unilateral approach to the Indus Waters Treaty. He cautioned that attempts to weaken or suspend the agreement would violate international law and threaten regional stability. He also condemned upstream restrictions and dam constructions that could manipulate water flow, calling such actions irresponsible and unacceptable.

Finally, Bilawal urged the international community to uphold global agreements and support collaborative water management. He expressed hope that World Water Day would inspire stronger dialogue, joint initiatives, and sustainable policies worldwide. The call for immediate collective action to protect water resources, he stressed, is essential to ensuring a peaceful and secure future for all.
