China reaffirms trade, investment support for Pakistan

China has reaffirmed its strong support for Pakistan, particularly in trade and investment, during a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The discussions also emphasized economic cooperation, regional stability, and future high-level engagements.

H.E. Jiang Zaidong, Ambassador of China to Pakistan, called on the prime minister at the Prime Minister’s House on Thursday, according to a press release from the PMO. Prime Minister Shehbaz congratulated Chinese leadership on the successful conclusion of the “Two Sessions” and thanked President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and Foreign Minister Wang Yi for their warm Pakistan Day greetings.

During the meeting, the premier highlighted China’s steadfast economic support and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing CPEC 2.0, focusing on agriculture, industrial cooperation, and priority infrastructure projects. Ambassador Jiang commended Pakistan’s economic resilience and reform efforts, reiterating China’s continued backing in trade and investment.

The two sides expressed satisfaction with ongoing exchanges and looked forward to high-level engagements to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations. PM Shehbaz also highlighted Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting de-escalation and regional stability.

Both leaders emphasized close coordination on issues of mutual interest and reaffirmed the enduring Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, reflecting long-term bilateral commitment.
