KARACHI: The Pakistan government has reassured citizens that LPG and petrol supplies remain stable as multiple shipments arrived at Port Qasim, officials confirmed on Thursday.

Authorities reported that there is currently no shortage of petroleum products in the country. They added that additional vessels are expected in the coming days to maintain uninterrupted supply. The vessel PCG Pericles arrived from Oman carrying over 3,800 tonnes of LPG and is stationed at Port Qasim’s outer terminal. Meanwhile, the oil tanker MT Virgo holds approximately 3,800 tonnes of petrol, and the ship Navigator Aries has docked from Iraq with 11,136 tonnes of LPG.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has also taken notice of unjustified increases in LPG prices. Officials said a nationwide crackdown would be launched against vendors involved in overcharging. Authorities stressed that current stocks are sufficient to meet domestic demand for April and beyond.

The assessment of fuel reserves was shared during a high-level meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, focusing on petroleum reserves and preparedness in light of the evolving Middle East situation. The deputy prime minister expressed satisfaction over the supply position and instructed ministries and authorities to maintain close coordination, ensure uninterrupted availability, and take all necessary measures to safeguard supplies.

The meeting included the federal ministers for petroleum and economic affairs, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, senior federal secretaries, and chief secretaries from provinces. Officials emphasized that the government is committed to protecting domestic fuel availability and stabilizing the energy market amid regional uncertainties.
