China backs Pakistan in US-Iran mediation

Published on: March 27, 2026 11:24 PM

China said US-Iran talks would help restore safe navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and supported Pakistan as a mediator. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the importance of promoting ceasefire, halting hostilities, and resuming peace talks. The discussion affects regional stability, global energy security, and diplomatic relations.

During a Friday call with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Wang said China appreciates Pakistan’s ongoing mediation efforts. This comes after a previous March 10 call between Wang and Dar, where China commended Pakistan’s constructive role in de-escalation. Both sides agreed to continue efforts for regional stability and conflict resolution through dialogue, reinforcing Pakistan’s emerging role as a trusted mediator.
