Israeli strikes intensify across southern Lebanon

Published on: March 28, 2026 6:31 PM

Israeli occupation forces carried out a series of air and artillery strikes across southern Lebanon on Friday, Lebanese state media reported. Heavy shelling hit the town of Hanine in Bint Jbeil, while a drone strike in Aita Al Shaab caused injuries.

Overnight, Israeli warplanes targeted several other towns, including Majdal Selm, Hadatha, and Haris. Additional strikes were reported in Zibqin, Tayri, and the area between Ramadiya and Siddiqine, marking continued cross-border escalation.

A Lebanese military source told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that army units were repositioned five to seven kilometers inland to protect personnel amid ongoing Israeli incursions in Khiam, Kfar Kila, and Marjayoun.

The source added that at least five bridges in southern Lebanon, including the Qasmiyeh bridge, were hit, likely aiming to disrupt connectivity between southern areas and the rest of the country.

The Lebanese army is focusing on maintaining internal stability and preventing unrest, particularly amid political divisions over arms control, while continuing to monitor the border for further Israeli activity.
