Pakistan’s weekly inflation rises 1.93%

Pakistan’s weekly inflation increased by 1.93 percent, according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics. The rise pushed the annual inflation rate to 12.15 percent, keeping it in double digits. Consumers across the country were affected by higher prices of essential goods.

The report showed that prices of 28 essential items increased during the week. Only eight items became cheaper, while 15 remained stable. The data highlights continued pressure on household budgets.

Fuel prices contributed significantly to the increase during the week. Diesel rose by 54.71 percent, while petrol increased by 17.86 percent. Liquefied petroleum gas also became 8.61 percent more expensive.

Food prices also recorded noticeable increases in several items. Tomatoes rose by 9.35 percent, potatoes by 4.13 percent, onions by 3.84 percent, and eggs by 3.77 percent. Beef, mutton, bread, and cooked lentils also became more expensive.

However, some relief was seen in select commodities during the week. Chicken, flour, ghee, and cooking oil prices declined. Garlic and bananas also became cheaper, offering limited relief to consumers.
