US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has said Iran still has an opportunity to make a “wise decision” at the negotiating table. He warned that time is running out for Tehran amid ongoing military pressure and regional tensions. His remarks came during a Pentagon press briefing in Washington.
He said US pressure and blockades would continue as long as necessary. Hegseth stated that the United States has no shortage of energy resources and will protect its interests. He added that military operations remain active in the region.

The defense secretary claimed the US maintains control over the Strait of Hormuz. He alleged that Iranian forces have attacked ships in the area, describing them as acts of maritime aggression. He also said several vessels have been seized during ongoing operations.
Hegseth said US forces have already taken control of multiple ships and further actions are underway. He added that orders have been issued to destroy vessels allegedly involved in laying mines. The Pentagon says these steps are part of broader security operations.
