9 killed in Lebanon ceasefire breach

Published on: April 30, 2026 9:19 PM

At least nine people have been killed and 13 others injured in Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon, according to local reports. The attacks come despite a temporary ceasefire, raising concerns over renewed escalation in the region. Civilians in multiple towns were directly affected by the strikes.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that residential buildings were targeted in several locations. In Jibchit, three people were killed and seven injured after a building was destroyed. The strike caused significant damage to civilian infrastructure.

In the town of Toul, four more people were killed and six injured when another residential building was hit. In Harouf, two additional deaths were reported following an airstrike on a house. Emergency teams continued search and rescue operations in affected areas.

Israeli warplanes also targeted Sultaniyeh, while artillery shelling struck nearby villages. The strikes took place despite a ceasefire that began earlier this month and was later extended. However, reports indicate continued violations through airstrikes and demolitions.

The ongoing violence has already caused large-scale displacement and casualties in southern Lebanon. Since March, thousands have been killed and many more injured, according to official figures. Meanwhile, tensions remain high as ceasefire conditions continue to be tested on the ground.
