The tribute took place on The Great Indian Kapil Show during a special segment featuring fellow comedians. Sharma reflected on Amanullah Khan’s impact on his understanding of comedy and storytelling, describing him as an artist who elevated laughter into a meaningful profession.

Sharma recalled a personal interaction with Khan, during which the Pakistani comedian advised him on the philosophy of comedy. According to Sharma, Khan emphasised that comedians play a unique role in society by spreading joy, unlike competitive fields where individuals are often compared based on success or status.

He further noted that Khan’s words have remained with him throughout his career, shaping his approach to performing for audiences. Sharma said that while different comedians may receive varying levels of applause, the ultimate purpose of comedy remains unchanged: to make people smile.

Amanullah Khan, who passed away in 2020, is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Pakistani stage and television comedy. Over several decades, he performed in thousands of stage shows, earning admiration not only in Pakistan but also among audiences in India and other countries.

His work helped shape the modern comedic style in the region, blending improvisation, satire, and social commentary. Khan’s legacy continues to inspire emerging comedians across South Asia.
