The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an advisory warning of unusual weather patterns across the province from May through July, including above-normal temperatures and increased rainfall in several regions.

According to the PDMA, Punjab is likely to experience a combination of intense heat and irregular monsoon activity during the three-month period. The authority has shared its outlook with relevant departments to ensure preparedness and timely response to possible weather-related challenges.
The forecast indicates that northern and north-western parts of Punjab may receive above-average rainfall, while eastern regions are expected to experience slightly below-normal precipitation. Central Punjab, meanwhile, is likely to see rainfall levels close to the seasonal average.
At the same time, the PDMA has warned that temperatures across the province will remain higher than usual during May. A heatwave is expected to affect most districts between May 7 and May 11, with significantly above-normal temperatures forecast during this period.
Officials have cautioned that the combination of extreme heat and shifting weather patterns could increase risks for public health, agriculture, and water management systems. Departments concerned have been advised to stay alert and take preventive measures to minimise potential damage.
The advisory comes as Pakistan continues to experience rising temperatures in many regions, with weather experts linking changing climate patterns to increased frequency of heatwaves and irregular rainfall events.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious during the heatwave period, particularly by avoiding unnecessary outdoor activity, staying hydrated, and taking care of vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly.
