Bilawal to inaugurate landmark Shahrah-e-Bhutto project on 23rd

Published on: May 16, 2026 2:57 AM

An important meeting of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Karachi Division was presided over by Senator Waqar Mehdi, General Secretary PPP Sindh, and attended by Karachi Division General Secretary Rauf Nagori, district presidents, general secretaries, information secretaries and other office-bearers.

During the meeting, Senator Waqar Mehdi congratulated the Karachi Division team on the successful organisation of the historic “Marka-e-Haq” event held at Sea View Karachi, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from party workers, women, youth and citizens in large numbers.

He stated that the formal inauguration ceremony of the Sindh Government’s landmark infrastructure project, Shahrah-e-Bhutto, will be held on Saturday, 23rd May at 4pm at Kathore Toll Plaza, Karachi, which will be attended by Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Constructed at an estimated cost of Rs57 billion, the 39.4-kilometre-long Shahrah-e-Bhutto stretches from Korangi to the Kathore Interchange on the M-9 Motorway and is being regarded as one of the most significant urban connectivity and infrastructure projects undertaken in Karachi in recent decades.

Shahrah-e-Bhutto is a reflection of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s vision of people-centred development, as well as the Sindh Government’s commitment to transforming Karachi’s urban infrastructure and improving the lives of citizens through modern connectivity and sustainable urban planning.

The project is expected to significantly improve connectivity between various parts of Karachi, particularly Malir, Korangi, Quaidabad and the city’s eastern corridor, while also easing traffic congestion on some of Karachi’s busiest roads.

This landmark project will provide substantial relief to commuters, students, transporters and office-goers by reducing travel time, traffic bottlenecks and fuel costs. It is also expected to boost economic activity, commercial movement, industrial accessibility and future urban development across Karachi.

The meeting reaffirmed that the Pakistan Peoples Party leadership remains committed to building a modern, connected and progressive Karachi, and that Shahrah-e-Bhutto is an important milestone in that broader vision.

PPP workers and supporters will gather at Kathore Toll Plaza on 23rd May to warmly welcome Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and celebrate the inauguration of this historic public welfare project, which is being seen as a major step towards Karachi’s development, improved urban mobility and modern civic infrastructure.
