Punjab CM urges strengthening of family bond on Int’l Day of Families

Published on: May 16, 2026 3:48 AM

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in her message on the International Day of Families, urged people to renew their commitment to love, respect and strong family ties, stating that family is the greatest source of strength and happiness.

She said the objective of observing the International Day of Families was to highlight the importance of family in society and promote awareness regarding the value of family life. “Family is not just a word, but another name for love, sincerity and true companionship,” she said.

The chief minister prayed that every family may always remain safe and united and that mutual love and affection continue to flourish. She termed family the first institution of learning and the foundation of moral values, adding that life’s challenges become easier when families stand together.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif said respect for elders, proper upbringing and education of children, and fulfilling every relationship with sincerity were essential elements of an ideal family. She remarked that every member of her family was her most valuable asset and described family support as her greatest strength and happiness.

She said those who are blessed with a supportive family standing by them like a shadow are truly fortunate, and urged people to spend time with their parents, siblings and children and express gratitude to them. “Family members stand shoulder to shoulder in every difficult time,” she added.

Highlighting the Punjab government’s welfare measures, the chief minister said assistance had been extended to four million families through the Ramazan Nigehban Package during Ramazan, while deserving families received aid at their doorsteps. She further stated that financial assistance of Rs10,000 each had been provided to millions of families during Ramazan, while more than 1.4 million families had been facilitated through ration cards.
