Fresh off her appearance at the Cannes Film Festival alongside Pakistani designer Hussain Rehar, the actor reflected on her experience during an interview with Something Haute, describing it as an important moment for Pakistan’s creative industry.

Saeed said Pakistanis needed to move beyond being grouped broadly under the “South Asian” label and establish a distinct identity of their own internationally. She noted that the response to her Cannes appearance, including positive coverage from Indian media outlets, came naturally without any deliberate publicity campaign.

According to the actor, the purpose of the trip was simply to represent Pakistan and showcase local talent. She highlighted that the outfits worn during the festival were designed and crafted in Pakistan, including pieces created by women artisans from Bahawalpur.

Saeed also spoke about the opportunities available globally for filmmakers, particularly women, saying Pakistani creators should actively seek grants and funding for artistic projects. She revealed that she is considering moving into production to help create Pakistani stories for international audiences.

The actor said Pakistani family dramas already have strong appeal worldwide and suggested that adapting storytelling for broader audiences could help expand the reach of local cinema and television.

Addressing issues faced by women in workplaces and the entertainment industry, Saeed encouraged young women to understand their rights, communicate confidently, and speak up about concerns rather than remaining silent.

She also stressed the importance of responsible storytelling in television dramas, warning that repeatedly glorifying toxic behaviour on screen could reinforce harmful social attitudes.

Known for projects such as Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Udaari, and Kafeel, Saeed said she has always preferred stories that create social impact and encourage positive change in society.
