Punjab CM orders inspection of buses, terminals ahead of Eidul Azha

Published on: May 26, 2026 8:45 AM

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed deputy commissioners and district police officers to inspect buses and bus terminals in view of Eidul Azha.

She also ordered that fare lists be prominently displayed on every bus and at every bus stand to prevent overcharging. The chief minister directed authorities to ensure the provision of cold drinking water at bus terminals.

CM Maryam Nawaz warned that the route permits of buses involved in overcharging, as well as licences of bus terminals, would be cancelled. She further directed that transport vehicles operating without fitness certificates should not be allowed to run during Eidul Azha.

The chief minister instructed the transport department and district administration to ensure a ban on overloading of passengers.

The transport department has established a 1071 helpline for the redressal of passengers’ complaints. Passengers can call the helpline to report incidents of overcharging.

Separately, Maryam Nawaz on Monday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of 11 precious lives in a traffic accident on the Swat Expressway.

The chief minister extended heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace for the departed souls.

CM Maryam Nawaz also prayed for courage and strength for the affected families to bear the irreparable loss.
