According to reports, US officials believe negotiations have advanced significantly in recent weeks, with the proposed agreement awaiting Trump’s approval. The discussions come amid heightened regional instability that has affected global energy markets and international trade routes.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei rejected parts of Trump’s characterization of the negotiations, saying exchanges of messages between the two sides were continuing but that no final understanding had been reached. He also emphasized that Iran would not accept demands imposed through pressure, reiterating Tehran’s longstanding position on national sovereignty.
Iran’s Fars News Agency, citing informed sources, described some of Trump’s statements as a “mixture of truth and lies.” The report disputed claims that Iran had agreed to destroy its enriched uranium stockpile or reopen the Strait of Hormuz under the conditions outlined by Washington. Iranian sources also maintained that the release of billions of dollars in frozen Iranian assets remains a key issue in the talks.
