Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a cash reward of Rs10,000 for every Suthra Punjab worker who participated in the province-wide Eid-ul-Azha cleanliness operation. Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari said the decision recognizes the dedication and hard work of sanitation teams that ensured timely waste collection and disposal during the three days of Eid celebrations across the province.
The large-scale sanitation campaign achieved significant results, with workers disposing of nearly 360,000 tonnes of animal waste during Eid. More than 184,000 sanitation workers took part in the operation, while around 60,000 vehicles remained active throughout the province. As a result, authorities managed to maintain cleanliness standards and prevent the accumulation of sacrificial animal remains in urban and rural areas.

Furthermore, the operation covered vast distances and reached every corner of Punjab. Officials reported that vehicles involved in waste collection travelled a combined six million kilometres during the campaign. Cleanliness activities continued without interruption from Lahore to Attock and from Multan to Rahim Yar Khan and Sadiqabad, ensuring residents received sanitation services throughout the holiday period.
To improve hygiene conditions and reduce unpleasant smells, authorities used rose water, phenyl and lime in affected areas. In addition, special teams washed nearly 4,000 roads as part of the cleanliness drive. These measures helped create a cleaner environment and supported public health efforts during one of the busiest periods of the year.

Officials said these efforts reflected the administration’s commitment to maintaining cleanliness at important public and religious locations across Punjab.
Azma Bukhari said citizens expressed satisfaction with the successful completion of the campaign and praised the performance of sanitation workers. She further stated that the Suthra Punjab helpline achieved a 100 percent complaint resolution rate, allowing authorities to respond quickly to public concerns and maintain effective cleanliness services during Eid-ul-Azha.
