According to Aleema, the rumours were being spread to divert attention from concerns regarding Imran Khan’s prison conditions and access to basic rights. She alleged that the former premier remains in isolation and faces restrictions on communication and visitation.
She claimed that Imran has not been allowed regular contact with family members, has been unable to speak with his sons, and has faced limitations on access to books and television. Aleema also raised concerns regarding his medical condition, saying he requires appropriate treatment for an eye-related issue.
The PTI leader’s sister referred to a court order that, according to her, permits regular meetings with family members, lawyers and party representatives. She maintained that these rights should be implemented in accordance with Pakistani law and international standards.
The statement comes after widespread speculation on social media over the weekend regarding an alleged meeting between Imran and a former military chief at Adiala Jail.
Imran Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023 and is serving sentences in multiple cases, including the £190 million corruption case and the Toshakhana-2 case. His legal team and family have repeatedly raised concerns regarding his detention conditions, while government officials have maintained that legal procedures are being followed.
