The agreement was signed during talks between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev. Both sides agreed to enhance coordination aimed at curbing illegal immigration and facilitating the repatriation of citizens residing unlawfully in either country.

The two countries also agreed to expand cooperation in combating narcotics trafficking and drug-related crimes, reflecting broader efforts to address transnational security challenges.

During the SCO meeting, Naqvi held separate discussions with interior ministers from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan on regional security, law enforcement cooperation and migration management.

In his meeting with Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda, discussions focused on security concerns related to terrorist groups and narcotics production in Afghanistan. Both sides expressed concern over the presence of militant organisations and the potential impact on regional stability.

Talks with Uzbekistan’s Interior Minister Aziz Tashpulatov centred on strengthening cooperation between law enforcement agencies and developing joint training initiatives. The two countries agreed to establish a working group to facilitate closer collaboration.

Naqvi also met Kyrgyz Interior Minister Niyazbek Olan Omokanov and Kazakhstan’s Interior Minister Yerzhan Sadenov, where discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in security and migration-related matters.
