PA speaker, Chinese Consul general discuss Pakistan-China ties

Published on: June 7, 2026 3:15 AM

Punjab Assembly (PA) Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan on Saturday met Chinese Consul General Sun Yan and discussed bilateral relations, parliamentary cooperation, economic collaboration, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other matters of mutual interest. During the meeting held at the Punjab Assembly, the speaker said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent visit to China marked another significant milestone in Pakistan-China relations, adding that the meetings with the Chinese leadership were constructive and productive. He said timely implementation of the decisions taken during the visit would further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan said the Pakistan-China strategic partnership was a guarantee of shared prosperity and a brighter future for both nations. He observed that the CPEC would usher in a new era of economic development in Pakistan, while investments in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) would create employment opportunities, promote industrial growth and contribute to sustainable economic development.

He said parliamentary diplomacy could play a vital role in further strengthening the longstanding friendship, mutual trust and strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China. Reaffirming his commitment to enhancing bilateral ties, he said Pakistan-China economic cooperation was reaching new heights under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Describing Pakistan-China friendship as time-tested and iron-clad, the speaker said China remained a trusted partner in Pakistan’s development and prosperity.

On the occasion, Chinese Consul General Sun Yan reiterated China’s commitment to further expanding bilateral relations with Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of educational and cultural exchanges in bringing the people of both countries closer and said cooperation in diverse sectors would continue to deepen for mutual benefit.

Secretary General Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Amer Habib, Adviser to the Speaker Osama Khawar, Principal Secretary Amad Hussain Bhalli, Malik Taimoor Ahmad Khan and Director Media Rao Majid Ali were also present during the meeting.
