Government denies reports claiming Imran Khan transferred from Jail to hospital

Published on: June 12, 2026 11:16 AM

راولپنڈی (11 جون 2026): بانی پی ٹی آئی عمران خان کو علاج کیلیے سخت سکیورٹی میں اڈیالہ جیل سے اسلام آباد روانہ کر دیا گیا۔

Government sources have rejected reports claiming that former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan was transferred from Adiala Jail to a hospital in Islamabad for medical treatment.

Speculation emerged after reports suggested that Khan had been moved under strict security arrangements for a medical examination by teams from the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and Al-Shifa Eye Hospital. The reports quickly gained attention on social media and political circles.

However, government sources denied the claims, stating that no such transfer had taken place and that reports regarding Khan’s movement from Adiala Jail for treatment were inaccurate.

The clarification comes amid continued public interest in the health and legal status of the former premier, who remains incarcerated in Adiala Jail. Questions about his medical condition have surfaced periodically, particularly following concerns raised by family members and party leaders.

Earlier this year, on March 3, a team of eye specialists from PIMS and Al-Shifa Eye Hospital conducted a follow-up examination of Imran Khan inside Adiala Jail. According to sources at the time, ophthalmologists Dr Arif and Dr Nadeem Qureshi carried out a detailed assessment of his eyesight and expressed satisfaction with his vision and overall eye health.

The latest reports also surfaced alongside developments regarding a possible meeting between Khan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. According to media reports, contacts were made between government representatives and PTI leadership regarding the matter, raising expectations of progress on arrangements for a meeting.

Sources familiar with the discussions indicated that consultations between the two sides were ongoing and that further developments could emerge in the coming days.

The government’s denial seeks to put to rest speculation regarding Khan’s medical treatment outside prison, while attention remains focused on both his health-related matters and ongoing political developments involving the PTI leadership and federal authorities.
