Punjab government to present budget today

The Punjab Governor has summoned the 43rd session of the Punjab Assembly on Tuesday, June 16, during which the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2026-27 will be presented.

According to a notification issued by the Punjab Assembly Secretariat, here on Monday, the session will begin at 2 pm with Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan in the chair.

The annual budget for FY2026-27 is the main agenda of the session, the notification said.

The budget is expected to outline the province’s revenue and expenditure estimates, development priorities and allocations for various sectors for the upcoming fiscal year.

The Punjab Assembly Secretariat has completed all arrangements for the budget session. Following the budget presentation, members of the assembly will hold a debate on the budget proposals and related financial measures.

Meanwhile, the agenda for the Punjab Assembly budget session has been released, according to which the session will begin on Tuesday, June 16 at 2 pm. According to the agenda, the budget for the next financial year will be presented in the session.

The supplementary budget for the financial year 2025-26 will also be approved in the session, while the Punjab Finance Minister will present the Finance Bill 2026 in the House.

In addition, a notification of amendments to the Sales Tax on Services Act 2012 will also be presented in the House. The Fiscal Risk Statement 2026-27 will also be presented in the House during the session, which will include details of fiscal risks and the government’s fiscal strategy.
