PSX rebounds with bullish momentum, gains over 1,878 points

The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed bullish trend on Wednesday, gaining 1,878.35 points, a positive change of 1.06 percent, closing at 179,571.27 points against 177,692.92 points on the last trading day.

During the session, the ready market recorded a trading volume of 851.298 million shares with a traded value of Rs 40.381 billion, compared to 765.143 million shares valuing Rs 35.443 billion in the previous session. The market capitalization increased to Rs 20.135 trillion from Rs 19.936 trillion a day earlier.

Out of 489 active companies in the ready market, 289 advanced, 167 declined and 33 remained unchanged.

K-Electric Ltd. topped the volume chart with 112.892 million shares, followed by Pak Int. Bulk with 73.295 million shares and WorldCall Telecom with 38.761 million shares.

The top gainers included Service Industries Limited, which increased by Rs 126.68 to close at Rs 2,357.15, and Khairpur Sugar Mills Limited, which gained Rs 88.31 to settle at Rs 2,385.67.

On the losing side, Pakistan Engineering Company Limited declined by Rs 27.94 to close at Rs 917.81, while Colgate-Palmolive (Pakistan) Limited fell by Rs 20.53 to close at Rs 1,259.53.

In the futures market, turnover stood at 738.511 million shares with a traded value of Rs 34.105 billion, compared to 682.151 million shares worth Rs 34.603 billion in the previous session. Out of 308 futures-market companies, 195 recorded gains, 107 declined and 6 remained unchanged, according to PSX data.
