The federal cabinet on Tuesday approved Pakistan’s first four-year Hajj Policy and Plan for 2027-2030 to improve pilgrimage management through digitalisation and long-term planning. The new framework aims to enhance services and streamline Hajj operations for Pakistani pilgrims. The decision marks a major shift from the previous annual Hajj policy.
The policy was approved during a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. According to an official statement, the cabinet also praised Religious Affairs Minister Sardar Muhammad Yousaf and his team for successfully managing this year’s Hajj arrangements. Officials said the new policy would provide greater continuity and improve planning for future pilgrimages.

Under the framework, intending pilgrims will be able to register in advance for Hajj up to 2030 without interruption. The policy also introduces complete digitalisation of registration, operational procedures and financial transactions. In addition, it retains separate government and private Hajj quotas while offering both long and short Hajj packages to provide greater flexibility.
