OPF Chairman Issues Clarification on Banned Action Committee’s Press Release

Published on: July 16, 2026 11:51 PM

Chairman Syed Qamar Raza

Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) Chairman Syed Qamar Raza has issued a clarification in response to a press release issued by a banned action committee. The OPF Chairman Clarification states that the committee’s statement distorted the facts through speculation and misrepresented the purpose of his contact.

According to Syed Qamar Raza, his communication was made solely in a personal capacity to explore a peaceful resolution to the issue. He emphasized that the welfare of overseas Pakistanis and addressing their concerns remain his foremost responsibility.

He explained that the contact was intended to encourage members of the banned committee to abandon violence and adopt a peaceful approach. Raza said that most members responded positively and logically to the proposal for dialogue, while a few individuals attempted to use the goodwill gesture for personal publicity.

The OPF chairman further stated that he did not represent any third party during the communication. Instead, he acted on behalf of his institution and the people it serves, with the sole objective of promoting peace, stability, and public welfare.

Syed Qamar Raza reaffirmed that his efforts to promote peace and reconciliation would continue despite negative campaigns. The OPF Chairman Clarification emphasized that his actions were motivated by concern for the region and its people, rather than any political or personal agenda.
