Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan Senator Ishaq Dar held a meeting with Indonesia Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto on the sidelines of the World Artificial Intelligence Cooperation Organisation (WAICO) meeting in Shanghai, where both sides agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed Pakistan-Indonesia relations and discussed ways to enhance collaboration in key priority areas, including economic development, trade and other fields of mutual interest.
Sharing details of the meeting on social media platform X, Ishaq Dar said he had a constructive discussion with Airlangga Hartarto regarding further strengthening ties between the two countries. He added that both sides also exchanged views on regional and multilateral issues of common interest.
The Pakistani deputy prime minister said the meeting also focused on reviewing progress made after Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s historic visit to Pakistan in December 2025. The discussions included implementation of agreements, economic outcomes and development-related initiatives agreed during the visit.
Both officials reaffirmed their commitment to translating bilateral understandings into practical steps and expanding cooperation between the two countries.
Pakistan and Indonesia share longstanding diplomatic relations and have been working to increase cooperation in areas including trade, investment, energy, agriculture and technology. Officials from both sides have repeatedly emphasized the importance of strengthening economic links alongside political and cultural ties.
The meeting took place during a period of increased engagement between Pakistan and regional partners on economic cooperation and emerging technologies. The WAICO gathering provided an opportunity for participating countries to discuss developments in artificial intelligence and explore avenues for collaboration in technology-driven sectors.
