
Security forces killed 24 terrorists during intelligence-based operations in Bannu and adjoining areas, the ISPR said on Friday. The operations followed a surge in terrorist attacks, including a vehicle-borne suicide bombing. The action aims to restore security and protect residents, civilians, and law enforcement personnel.
According to the ISPR, the operations targeted members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, also referred to as Fitna Al-Khwarij by authorities. Security forces and law enforcement agencies launched coordinated intelligence-based operations after recent attacks on police and civilians. During fierce exchanges over the past 24 hours, troops killed 24 terrorists and recovered weapons and ammunition.

The military said the slain terrorists had participated in several attacks against innocent civilians and security personnel. It added that security forces continue clearance operations to locate remaining militants and dismantle their support networks. Authorities also pledged to bring everyone involved in recent attacks to justice through sustained counterterrorism efforts.
Meanwhile, the ISPR said Pakistan’s counterterrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework will continue at full pace. The strategy was approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating terrorism and preventing future attacks through coordinated security measures.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised the security forces and law enforcement agencies for the successful operations in Bannu. He called the swift action against recent terrorist attacks commendable and said the nation stands with its security institutions. The prime minister also reaffirmed that eliminating terrorism and its facilitators remains the government’s highest national security priority.
