Bilawal launches AJK election campaign

Published on: July 17, 2026 11:00 PM

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari launched his election campaign in Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. He pledged to represent AJK people in Islamabad and international forums if given the mandate.

Addressing a public rally, Bilawal said politicians should act as a bridge between the people and the federal government. He said the current situation in AJK required attention from all political stakeholders.

The PPP chairman said resolving issues through political and peaceful means remained possible. He proposed a truth and reconciliation commission to address concerns related to the ongoing situation in AJK.

Bilawal urged the government and protesters to consider dialogue and avoid actions that affect ordinary citizens. He said disruptions to food, fuel, and medicine supplies create difficulties for the public.

Meanwhile, Bilawal said the upcoming AJK election was among the most important elections in the region’s history. He highlighted self-governance, economic opportunities, and public rights as key points of the PPP manifesto.

He said the PPP would continue supporting the Kashmir cause while seeking greater rights and representation for the people of AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan. He also proposed constitutional conventions for discussing future reforms.
