Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah said the AJK 12 Seats Issue should be raised before the newly elected Azad Jammu and Kashmir Assembly after the upcoming elections. He stressed that constitutional and legal matters should be resolved through elected institutions rather than protests or sit-ins.
Speaking at an event in Islamabad, Rana Sanaullah said elections in Azad Kashmir are approaching and expressed confidence that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would perform strongly. He stated that once the new assembly is formed, the issue of the 12 seats should be presented before it for consideration.
He also criticized the banned action committee, saying it had adopted the wrong approach. According to him, constitutional and legal disputes cannot be settled through demonstrations, as such matters fall within the authority of the legislative assembly.
Rana Sanaullah described Pakistan’s nuclear program as a guarantee of the country’s security and praised the armed forces under the leadership of the Field Marshal for what he called a historic victory in the recent conflict. He also commented on JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s remarks about the martyrs, saying it would be appropriate if he withdrew his statement.
Referring to the security situation, Rana Sanaullah said many people wanted to join the fight against terrorists in Haneh Urak. He added that encouraging local communities to develop basic self-defense capabilities against terrorism should not be considered objectionable. The AJK 12 Seats Issue, he said, should ultimately be addressed through the democratic and constitutional process.
