PM Says Pakistan Played Key Role in Regional Peace Efforts

Shehbaz Sharif

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan played an important role in promoting Pakistan Regional Peace during the recent regional crisis, adding that the country’s mediation efforts between Iran and the United States would be remembered as a significant diplomatic achievement. He also praised the Field Marshal’s role in the reconciliation process, saying his tireless efforts would be remembered in history.

Speaking at the Pakistan-China Pharmaceutical B2B Investment Conference in Islamabad, the prime minister said the recent regional crisis affected not only the Middle East but also the wider international community. He stated that Pakistan acted as a mediator in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the United States to support peaceful dialogue.

Shehbaz Sharif also described China as Pakistan’s most reliable and sincere friend. He said the security of Chinese citizens working in Pakistan remains the government’s top priority and welcomed pharmaceutical investment agreements worth more than $440 million, calling them another important step toward advancing CPEC Phase II.

Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong said Pakistan’s economy is improving under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership and reaffirmed China’s continued support for peace and stability in the region. He added that Pakistan offers significant opportunities for growth in the healthcare sector.

Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal said the government is working as a unified team under the prime minister’s leadership, while Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar stated that the prime minister’s recent visit to China opened a new chapter in economic cooperation, creating fresh opportunities for investment, technology transfer, and industrial collaboration. The Pakistan Regional Peace efforts were presented as part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen diplomacy and economic partnerships.
