The Balochistan government and the protest committee have successfully concluded talks, reaching a Balochistan Peace Agreement after negotiations led by Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti. The agreement was signed by government representatives, the families of the Ziarat victims, and members of the protest committee.
Nasrullah Zarey, a member of the protest committee, confirmed that both sides reached a consensus on the draft agreement before signing the final document. The successful negotiations ended the deadlock between the parties.
Under the agreement, a judicial commission will be established to investigate the Ziarat incident. It was also agreed that a joint law and order meeting, chaired by the chief minister, will be held with participation from the opposition and the families of the victims.
The agreement further states that the victims of the Ziarat incident will be officially recognized as martyrs under the government’s policy. Their families will receive financial compensation, welfare support, and educational assistance for their children. In addition, government buildings will be named in honor of the martyrs.
To address public concerns regarding revenue-related issues, a committee headed by the provincial revenue minister will also be formed. Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti said caring for the families of the martyrs is the government’s responsibility and paid tribute to the sacrifices made by the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps, and police. The Balochistan Peace Agreement is expected to support efforts aimed at restoring stability and public confidence in the province.
