Court summons issued for Wajid Zia in Avenfield case

ISLAMABAD: The head of the joint investigation team (JIT) formed for probing the matter of former Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and his family’s properties in Avenfield, London, Wajid Zia has on Monday been summoned by Accountability Court in the Avenfield Properties case.

According to details, Wajid Zia, currently serving as an additional director in Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), has been ordered by Accountability Court hearing the Avenfield Properties case to appear before the court on Friday (February 22) along with the original JIT report.

Zia has been summoned by the court upon the request from National Accountability Bureau (NAB), which had filed the references against the Sharif family. The references pertain to Al-Azizia Steel Mills, Flagship Investment Ltd and Avenfield properties.

The court was adjourned till Friday. Two witnesses based in UK are also scheduled to record their statements with the court on February 22 (Friday).
