Aisha Khan announces her departure from Pakistan’s media industry

Published on: March 1, 2018 8:16 PM

Pakistani actor Aisha Khan has announced her decision of leaving the media industry, without clearly stating the obvious reason behind it.

The actress took to social media today to announce her “bowing out with immense satisfaction and a lot of pride.”

Alongside, the actor has also apologised to her colleagues for not being able to take up new projects since 2016.

The actress wrote: “With great pleasure and humility, I have decided to bid farewell to our wonderful media industry. I am bowing out with immense satisfaction and a lot of pride to move on to the next phase of my life,” the actress wrote.

“I have always tried to keep my professional and personal life separate and request everyone to understand please,” she has stated in the message. “I would also like to let my colleagues and friends know about the limitation that I might have had in accepting new projects since 2016 out of which a few scripts stayed with me for a long time. My apologies,” she added.

Aisha’s announcement has taken the industry by surprise, with many co-stars like Ahsan Khan, Syed Jibran, Zahid Ahmed and Tooba Siddiqui expressing their shock on her post on Facebook.

“What?! The industry is going to lose one of its brightest stars and one of the best actors. However, respect your decision if it makes you happy,” said Mansha Pasha.

Azfar Rehman commented, “Aisha, it takes a lot of courage to take this step. So proud of you. Great luck for [the] future, but we all will miss [your] on-screen magic.”

Khan made her television debut 18 years ago with the PTV drama serial Tum Yehi Kehna and went on to have a very lucrative career in drama TV, starring in hit shows like Mann Mayal, Mehndi, and Parsa. She has also made big appearances on the silver screen, in Bilal Lashari’s directorial debut, Waar as well as Nadeem Baig’s Jawani Phir Nahi Ani.

Her presence on the screen will definitely be missed.
