PSL 3: Foreign players and coaches reach Lahore for Eliminators

LAHORE: Seventeen foreign players from six different countries and seven-member coaching staff reached Lahore on Tuesday to take part in the two eliminators of the third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL 3).

The players and coaching staff reached Lahore from Dubai on flight EK-622 earlier today. They received a warm welcome at the Allama Iqbal International Airport by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officials, officers of local management and high ranked police officials.

Former victor Peshawar Zalmi will face two-time finalists Quetta Gladiators in the first eliminator of the PSL 3 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium today (Tuesday). The match will start at 7:00pm PST. The winner of this match will face Karachi Kings in the second eliminator at the same venue on Wednesday. The winner of second eliminator will fight Islamabad United in the PSL 3 final on Sunday.

The players who reached Lahore include Darren Sammy, Liam Dawson, Rikki Wessels, Chris Jordan, Ander Fletcher, Chris Green, Lendl Simmons, Joe Denly, Ravi Bopara, Tymal Mills, Colin Ingram, David Weisse, Mahmudullah and Rilee Rossouw.

Members of the coaching staff are Mickey Arthur, Sir Vivian Richards and Julian Fountinio also reached Lahore along with the players.

The foreign players and coaching staff, having the status of state guests, were then shifted in bullet-proof buses to a five-star hotel at the Mall Road under high security where they were again welcomed by the local players of PSL 3 teams.
