Afridi backs Sarfraz to captain Pakistan till World Cup 2019

Published on: October 2, 2018 7:54 PM

Pakistan former skipper Shahid Afridi has thrown his weight behind Sarfraz Ahmed as the best choice to captain Pakistan till the upcoming World Cup.

“Sarfraz is an excellent captain and he should remain in charge till the World Cup 2019,” said Boom Boom Afridi.

Earlier, Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq had also expressed his confidence in Sarfraz’s captaincy and lauded his leadership skills.

Commenting on Pakistan team’s poor performance in the recently held Asia Cup, the former skipper questioned why is it that the burden of loss is always put on the captain’s shoulder.

“We had a lot of hopes from the team but they did not perform well,” he said.

Questioning the team selection criteria, the former skipper said he was amazed that why the selection committee did’not pick Fawad Alam for the test series against Australia despite of his remarkable performance.

“Fawad is consistently performing well in the domestic cricket,” said Afridi, adding that he is unable to understand what’s the problem in coordination between the coach and the chief selector.
