On the order of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, strict action is taken against those doing business that are inimical to health.

DG Punjab Food Authority Asim Javeed said that On the special instructions of Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin, food safety teams conducted early morning and late night blockades, checking of vehicles carrying milk and meat.Checking of 1310 food points in Lahore zone, fines of 15 lakh 20 thousand were imposed on many, production of 5 units was stopped, 3 cases were registered.
705 kg of sick underweight chickens, 5210 liters of adulterated milk and huge quantity of expired items were destroyed. According to DG Food Authority Asim Javeed Actions were initiated for serious violations of Punjab Pure Food SOPs.During the checking and blockade of Tolanton market, 57 thousand kilos of chickens and 620 thousand liters of milk were inspected. DG said Despite issuing rectification notices several times, the units were closed by imposing heavy fines for non-rectification.Unavailability of essential medical supplies, insects in kitchen, cobwebs in storage area and smelly environment.
Prepared food was found stored in moldy racks and freezers, rusted containers.
There is a complete ban on the use of unhealthy ghee, open spices and prohibited ingredients in the preparation of food throughout Punjab.
Jali at the meat counter, chicken slaughtering cone system, personal hygiene, complete traceability of milk and meat is being ensured. The milk and meat to be destroyed were to be supplied to various small and big shops in Lahore. Asim Javeed further said the case is being fully followed up to register a case against those involved in forgery in Punjab.The special teams formed are checking the milk and meat by blocking the entrances of the city early in the morning.Good health of Punjabis is the responsibility of Punjab Food Authority, provision of quality food is the first duty.
