Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of JUI-F, emphasized the need for Pakistan to strengthen its defense institutions and unite as a nation in the face of rising tensions. Speaking in the National Assembly, he stressed that the current situation is critical and requires a collective effort. He announced that his party will observe May 11 as “Defence of Pakistan Day,” with major rallies planned in Peshawar on May 11 and in Quetta on May 15, calling on the public to show unity.
Fazlur Rehman further pointed out that the government has encouraged young people to register for civil defense, and his party has tasked its Anasar-ul-Islam wing with this responsibility. He praised the role of religious seminary students, noting that they are already defending Pakistan on the frontlines. He called for solidarity across political parties and urged everyone to support the military in protecting the country.
The JUI-F leader also expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s current diplomatic approach. He criticized the lack of active diplomatic efforts, arguing that phone calls alone are insufficient. Rehman suggested that Pakistan should engage more directly with important regional allies, such as China, Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Afghanistan, to strengthen its position internationally.
In addition, Fazlur Rehman condemned the negative portrayal of war and the army on social media. He expressed outrage over India’s attacks on civilian areas, including mosques and schools, and called them acts of aggression. He warned that war is no time for jokes and urged Pakistanis to support the armed forces, highlighting their bravery in defending the nation against India’s actions.
