Fawad chaudhry slams PTI leadership for ignoring party founder amidst national challenges

Published on: June 23, 2025 6:38 PM

Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry has strongly criticized the current leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), claiming they show no concern for the party’s founder, Imran Khan, amid growing political and national challenges.

Speaking outside an anti-terrorism court in Lahore, where one of the 35 cases related to the May 9 incidents was being heard, Fawad revealed that the current PTI leaders lack the courage to face pressure. He said that if they were in the same situation after May 9, they would have “run away,” unlike the resilience shown by the party founder and his loyalists.

He further accused the current PTI leadership of failing to manage the party effectively. Fawad urged Imran Khan to take decisive action and replace the present leadership with the original team that helped build the party. According to him, the current leaders are not making any serious efforts to secure Imran Khan’s release from legal challenges.

Fawad also expressed disappointment over PTI’s silence on international affairs, particularly regarding the recent attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities by Israel. He noted that only one opposition member spoke against this aggression, and he emphasized that Pakistan must stand firmly with Iran in this critical time to uphold solidarity among Muslim nations.

Finally, he stressed the need for Pakistan to show unity with fellow Islamic countries, urging the government and political parties to condemn any attacks on Muslim nations. Fawad’s remarks come at a time when Pakistan faces internal political turmoil alongside rising regional tensions.
