Putin denounces US attacks on Iran, pledges support for Iranian people

Published on: June 23, 2025 6:48 PM

Russian President Vladimir Putin strongly condemned the recent US bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities. He said the attacks have no legal or moral justification. Putin assured that Russia will do its best to support the Iranian people during these challenging times.

The comments came during a high-level meeting in Moscow between Putin and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. This visit marked Araghchi’s first foreign trip since the US strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites. Both leaders discussed the rising tensions and its dangers for the entire region.

Putin described the US and Israeli military actions as illegal and harmful to regional peace. He emphasized that Russia has long-standing friendly relations with Iran. Putin also said Russia clearly expressed its position against the attacks at the United Nations Security Council. The meeting aimed to explore diplomatic solutions to ease the crisis.

During the meeting, Araghchi sent warm regards from Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and President Ebrahim Raisi to Putin. He thanked Russia for condemning the US aggression and for standing firmly with Iran in this difficult situation. Both sides agreed to boost their political and security cooperation moving forward.

Earlier, Russia’s Foreign Ministry had publicly condemned the US strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. They called the attacks a breach of international law, the UN Charter, and Security Council resolutions. Russia urged an immediate end to all military aggression against Iran to maintain regional stability.
