Sindh assembly passes Rs 3.45 trillion budget with focus on health and education

Published on: June 25, 2025 4:40 PM

The Sindh Assembly has officially passed the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2025–26. The budget session began on June 13, during which Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah presented the detailed financial plan. This budget aims to boost social sectors and improve public services across the province. The total budget is Rs 3.451 trillion, reflecting an ambitious growth agenda.

CM Murad Ali Shah announced several relief measures for government employees. Staff from grade 1 to 16 will receive a 12% ad hoc relief allowance, while those in grades 17 to 22 will get a 10% increase. Pensioners will also benefit from an 8% rise in their pensions. These measures intend to support the workforce and retired employees amid rising inflation.

Key sectors such as health, education, and infrastructure received increased funding. The health budget alone rose by 8% compared to last year’s Rs 302.2 billion, showing strong government focus on improving healthcare services. Additional funds will be spent on infrastructure development and social welfare programs to enhance the overall quality of life in Sindh.

The chief minister highlighted new initiatives to promote sustainable agriculture. The government will provide subsidies on drip irrigation systems to conserve water. Public-private partnerships will launch cluster farming projects to modernize agriculture and increase productivity. These steps aim to support farmers and promote eco-friendly farming methods.

In education, funding will be decentralized to schools, allowing head teachers to directly manage administrative expenses. Youth development centers will be set up across Sindh to provide skills training, career counseling, and digital literacy programs. Furthermore, the budget increases support and facilities for persons with disabilities, ensuring inclusive growth throughout the province.
