Fresh cracks have appeared within the ranks of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), as senior leader and Core Committee member Mishal Yousafzai launched a veiled attack on Shehr Shah, son of Aleema Khan and nephew of party founder Imran Khan.
In a strongly worded social media post, Mishal questioned the legal leniency Shehr Shah allegedly received in connection with the May 9–10 incidents. She posted video clips reportedly showing him participating in those events and asked, “How did he get such massive relief when others are suffering for far less?”
She didn’t stop there. Drawing a sharp contrast, Mishal wrote that prominent party leaders are still in hiding, thousands of loyal workers remain behind bars, and PTI lawyer Hassaan Niazi has already been sentenced to 10 years in prison over similar footage. “Why are some punished harshly, while others walk free?” she asked.
This isn’t just a personal grievance—it’s a reflection of the unrest brewing within PTI. Many in the party are growing frustrated with what they perceive as favoritism and unequal justice. Mishal’s remarks signal that even among senior leadership, trust and transparency are wearing thin.
This latest episode highlights the ongoing internal challenges PTI is facing as it attempts to regroup amid mounting legal pressure, shrinking public space, and fractures in loyalty. With members now questioning each other openly, the party’s unity may be tested even further in the coming weeks.
