SIALKOT: Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has drawn a powerful comparison between the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the tragedy of Karbala, urging immediate action from the Muslim world. Speaking to media on Sunday, Asif emphasized the moral duty of Islamic nations to rise against injustice and support Palestinians facing relentless violence.
Reflecting on the historic significance of Karbala, Asif said, “Karbala teaches us the ultimate sacrifice for truth and dignity. The Prophet’s (PBUH) family stood alone, and today, Palestinians face the same isolation.” He stressed that the bloodshed in Gaza mirrors the pain and abandonment experienced in Karbala.
He expressed deep frustration over the lack of response from Muslim countries, saying, “More than 70,000 Muslims—many of them women and children—have been martyred, yet not one of the 58 Muslim states is actively protesting.” His remarks called attention to the widespread silence despite the scale of the humanitarian disaster.
Asif urged Muslim leaders to unite and take decisive steps to end the suffering in Gaza. “It is our collective responsibility to act now,” he said. “Silence in the face of oppression is complicity. Someone must stand up and say enough is enough.”
Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes continued in Gaza, reportedly killing another 78 Palestinians in just the last 24 hours. At the same time, Israel is sending a delegation to Qatar to resume ceasefire talks, raising cautious hopes for a potential breakthrough in negotiations.
As global outrage grows, Asif’s bold remarks have sparked renewed calls for solidarity across the Muslim world. His statement comes at a critical time, as Gaza remains under siege and the humanitarian crisis deepens with each passing day.
