GAZA CITY – At least 20 people, including six children, were killed in two Israeli air strikes in Gaza overnight, according to the Gaza Civil Defence Agency. The strikes hit civilian areas already sheltering displaced families, deepening the humanitarian crisis in the war-torn territory.
Agency spokesman Mahmud Bassal confirmed that the first strike targeted a tent shelter in Khan Yunis, located in southern Gaza, just after midnight local time. The second airstrike struck a displacement camp in northern Gaza shortly afterward.
The attacks come amid a sharp escalation in regional tensions, with recent reports of Iranian missile strikes killing 10 people in Israel, marking a night of mutual attacks between Israel and Iran-linked forces.
Local officials and aid groups have warned that the ongoing conflict is putting displaced civilians at extreme risk, with many forced to live in temporary shelters or makeshift tents lacking basic protections.
The Israeli military has not issued an immediate comment on the strikes. International observers continue to call for restraint, but the violence shows no signs of slowing as both sides escalate their operations.
