LAHORE – Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari has strongly condemned what she called a “fitna group” for spreading fake news, stressing that no audit report has questioned Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s tenure so far.
Speaking at a press conference, Bukhari said Maryam Nawaz’s leadership is rooted in transparency and good governance. She added that the current Punjab administration has brought noticeable improvements, particularly in reducing crime and ending the culture of VIP treatment, often referred to as “Dala culture.”
Bukhari accused the former PTI-led Punjab government of misusing public funds by stockpiling wheat under the guise of helping farmers, only to later profit from the reserves. She claimed that PTI had a history of mismanagement and continued to spread lies for political gain.
Moreover, she rejected rumors about a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, stating that PTI-linked YouTubers had twisted the facts for propaganda purposes. She also challenged the PTI founder to involve his daughter in political matters if he believed in open discourse.
Highlighting recent successes, Bukhari applauded the provincial government’s arrangements during Muharram, noting the peaceful atmosphere and religious unity. She shared that CM Maryam Nawaz received a Peace Award from a visiting delegation for her efforts in ensuring public order.
In closing, Bukhari reaffirmed that political disruption disguised as activism would not be tolerated, warning that the government remains committed to progress and public safety despite opposition propaganda.
