Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, has announced the launch of a 90-day movement, emphasizing that the time for decisive action has arrived. Speaking at a press conference, Gandapur stated that the movement, led by former Prime Minister Imran Khan, would either make or break political scenarios in Pakistan. He stressed that Khan, despite enduring personal injustices, is ready for negotiations for the sake of Pakistan’s future. The discussions, he added, would occur with the decision-makers, regardless of whether they choose to include others in the process.
Gandapur reiterated that Khan, who has faced significant challenges, remains committed to dialogue. He urged political leaders to acknowledge their mistakes and work towards correcting them for the country’s betterment. He also expressed his admiration for Imran Khan’s supporters and workers, highlighting the unprecedented political oppression faced by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Despite the immense challenges, Gandapur noted that PTI members remain steadfast, showing resilience amid adversity.
The Chief Minister strongly criticized the role of state institutions, accusing them of deviating from their constitutional duties and engaging in political maneuvers. He specifically pointed to the mismanagement of border security in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Gandapur raised concerns about the growing political involvement of institutions that should be non-political. He pointed out that these entities are responsible for the current instability and challenged them to reconsider their actions for the sake of the nation’s future.
Discussing the issue of military involvement in politics, Gandapur condemned the repeated imposition of martial law, stating that it had significantly harmed Pakistan’s democracy. He further emphasized that the country’s institutions should not be engaged in the politics of creating and toppling governments. Highlighting the need for reform, Gandapur called for a collective effort to rectify the situation and warned against making decisions that would harm the country’s future.
Gandapur concluded by asserting that PTI’s upcoming movement would determine the party’s future direction. With the 90-day movement set to culminate by August 5, PTI intends to push for substantial political change. Gandapur emphasized that if dialogue fails, the party will continue its protests, as it is their constitutional right. He called for fair negotiations, urging the government to allow peaceful gatherings and expressed disappointment over the lack of response to PTI’s political demands.
