Imran Ashraf stars in Canadian-Indian Punjabi film

Published on: July 19, 2025 4:39 PM

Popular Pakistani actor and TV host Imran Ashraf has debuted in a foreign film with the release of the trailer for Ena Nu Rehna Sehna Nahi Aunda. This upcoming Canadian-Indian Punjabi romantic comedy is set to premiere next month, marking an important milestone in Ashraf’s career.

Before this film, Imran Ashraf had worked in several Pakistani movies, but this is his first time starring in a foreign production. The film mainly features Canadian-origin Indian actors but also includes notable Pakistani Punjabi actors, reflecting a diverse cast. Imran Ashraf plays the central character, while the film is directed by Rupen Bal.

Indian Punjabi singer and actor Jessie Gill also stars, adding star power to the project. Other prominent cast members are Ranjit Bawa, Mandeep Takkar, Sapna Pabbi, Namal Rishi, Nasir Chinioti, and Nupreet Banga.

The released trailer offers a glimpse but does not fully explain the story. However, it hints that the plot centers around young students and their experiences. The romantic comedy tone of the film has been well received by viewers so far, generating excitement ahead of its August release.

The production team mostly consists of Canadian-origin Indians, which has helped avoid immediate backlash from Indian Hindu groups against Pakistani actors’ involvement. Due to ongoing tensions, the film is expected to release in countries other than India and may also be screened in Pakistan, potentially reaching a wider audience.

This collaboration showcases the growing cross-border connections in Punjabi cinema and highlights Imran Ashraf’s expanding career beyond Pakistan’s film industry. Fans eagerly await the film’s release to see his performance on an international platform.
