Electricity bill distribution fully transferred to Pakistan post

Published on: July 19, 2025 5:22 PM

Islamabad: The government has decided to hand over the printing and distribution of electricity bills for all electricity companies in Pakistan to Pakistan Post. This is a major step to improve bill delivery across the country.

Officials from Pakistan Post say that all electricity bills will now be printed and delivered by their staff. This move aims to make the bill distribution system more efficient and reliable for consumers.

Currently, talks are still ongoing with K-Electric regarding the distribution of their bills. However, Pakistan Post has already started a pilot project for bill delivery in some areas.

In the first phase, Pakistan Post employees will distribute electricity bills on a trial basis in selected sub-divisions of different distribution companies. This will help test the system before expanding it nationwide.

If the pilot project is successful, the government plans to fully transfer the bill distribution to Pakistan Post within six months. In the final stage, Pakistan Post will also take responsibility for printing the bills.

Post Master Generals have been directed to work closely with electricity company staff to select areas for the initial rollout. This cooperation is expected to ensure a smooth transition.

This change could also lead to lower electricity costs per unit for consumers by reducing operational expenses in bill delivery.
