PTI Senate list 100% Imran Khan-approved, says PTI chairman

Published on: July 22, 2025 1:13 PM

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar said no candidate was submitted for the Senate elections without Imran Khan’s consultation. He spoke to the media at Islamabad’s Judicial Complex and said the Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa went smoothly. PTI had finalized all names well in advance, and every candidate had Imran Khan’s approval. He confirmed PTI won six seats in the province.

Gohar explained that the March 2024 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senate election was settled months ago. Due to reserved seats, the election outcome changed, resulting in fewer seats for PTI than expected. He highlighted that after May 9, giving tickets to those who held press conferences is unjustified. Imran Khan personally finalized Mirza Afridi’s name, who has remained loyal and supported the party’s narrative.

He urged the end of internal conflicts, saying hardships must stop after two years. Gohar also criticized violations of court rulings regarding meetings with Imran Khan. The last official meeting was held with Barrister Saif, followed by meetings with Imran’s sisters. He noted PTI members leave on their own, and no one is forcibly removed.

Barrister Gohar said Imran Khan will personally lead protests from jail. He declared the negotiation period is over, and all future decisions will follow the PTI founder’s guidance. This statement shows Imran Khan’s continued influence over party affairs despite current challenges.

The comments come amid internal party tensions and ongoing political turmoil. PTI remains focused on its strategy for upcoming elections and protests. The chairman’s remarks reinforce Imran Khan’s central role in the party’s direction and candidate selection.
