Abhishek Sharma tops t20 rankings, dethrones Head

Published on: July 30, 2025 4:38 PM

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the latest T20 player rankings, with India’s Abhishek Sharma claiming the No. 1 spot for batters. He replaced Australia’s Travis Head, who dropped to second after leading the charts in recent months. Sharma’s consistent performances in the last few series have earned him his first-ever top ranking.

Meanwhile, Australia’s Josh Inglis made a strong move by jumping six positions to enter the top 10 at No. 9. Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam, however, fell one position to 14th, reflecting a dip in his recent form. The rankings update also saw shifts across all categories, indicating changing momentum among top players.

In the bowlers’ list, New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy maintained his No. 1 ranking. Australia’s Nathan Ellis climbed seven spots to reach ninth, while Matt Henry from New Zealand surged 10 places to 19th. These movements highlight the rise of fresh bowling talent on the T20 circuit.

The all-rounders’ ranking also saw a shake-up. India’s Hardik Pandya continues to dominate in first place. Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee rose to second after consistent all-round displays. Afghanistan’s veteran Mohammad Nabi moved to third, while England’s Liam Livingstone improved three places to secure fourth.

The ICC T20 rankings reflect current form and performances in international matches. With major series lined up, further shifts are expected in the coming weeks as players battle for top honours ahead of next year’s ICC T20 World Cup.
