Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed officials to distribute milk and biscuits among students of government schools under the Chief Minister School Nutrition Programme. A special meeting was held to select brands for the supplies.
The programme is being implemented in eight districts, including Bhakkar, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Rajanpur, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh, and Rahim Yar Khan. Officials aim to ensure timely delivery of nutritious items to all schools.
This pilot initiative focuses on addressing malnutrition among school-going children. Daily milk packs and biscuits will be provided to over 400,000 students across 3,527 government schools to improve their overall health and concentration.
Empty milk packs will be collected from schools, and proceeds from recycling will be utilized for the benefit of the respective schools. The step will also promote environmental responsibility among students and staff.
The Chief Minister emphasized monitoring and regular feedback to ensure that the programme reaches every eligible child. Teachers and school administrators have been asked to actively supervise distribution and usage.
Additionally, the programme aims to increase attendance and create awareness about healthy eating habits. Officials stated that they will review progress regularly and expand the initiative to more districts based on results.
