Published on: August 29, 2025 3:20 PM

Pakistan will face Afghanistan today in the opening match of the T20 Tri-series at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) complete the three-team competition.

The final of the tri-series is scheduled for Sunday, 7 September, and all matches will be played at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Teams hope to gain valuable match practice ahead of the ACC Asia Cup.

Pakistan’s 17-member squad is led by Salman Ali Agha, who has captained the team in 18 matches. Since arriving in the UAE on 20 August, the team has trained and played practice games in Dubai.

This tri-series serves as preparation for the ACC Asia Cup, scheduled in Abu Dhabi and Dubai from 9 to 28 September. Pakistan have previously won four of seven T20Is against Afghanistan.

Salman Ali Agha said, “This tri-series will greatly help us in Asia Cup preparations. Leading Pakistan is an honour and responsibility, and we are fully ready to perform in all matches.”

Tri-Series Schedule:

  • 29 Aug – Afghanistan vs Pakistan – 7pm local time

  • 30 Aug – UAE vs Pakistan – 7pm local time

  • 1 Sep – UAE vs Afghanistan – 7pm local time

  • 2 Sep – Pakistan vs Afghanistan – 7pm local time

  • 4 Sep – Pakistan vs UAE – 7pm local time

  • 5 Sep – Afghanistan vs UAE – 7pm local time

  • 7 Sep – Final – 7pm local time

Pakistan and Afghanistan will aim to start the tournament strongly, while UAE seeks to challenge both sides. Fans are expected to flock to Sharjah Stadium to watch high-quality T20 cricket.
